LipoDissolve
What is Lipodissolve?
Lipodissolve is a non-surgical procedure that injects a combination of homeopathic agents and FDA approved medications directly into fat to cause the fat cells to burst. It is one of the few alternatives for liposuction to treat problem areas of fat that refuse to go away with diet and exercise alone.
What medications are used?
The main ingredient is Phosphatidylcholine, which is what causes the fat cells to burst. Vitamin B complex is added to help the liver's breakdown process of fat. The two ingredients are homeopathic ingredients; the only prescription medication used in the procedure is Trental, an FDA approved medication for poor circulation. It is used in lipodissolve to help fat cells burst faster. The fore mentioned ingredients are all mixed with saline.
How does Lipodissolve work?
The medications used in the Lipodissolve work together to cause lysis of the fat cell wall. By doing so, the fat which is being stored in the cell is released, and is taken by the lymphatic system to the liver. The liver is where it is metabolized and excreted out in the urine.
How is Lipodissolve different from Mesotherapy?
Lipodissolve differs in various ways from Mesotherapy; there are differences in how deep the injections are placed, how much of the solution is injected, and the intervals between treatments. Mesotherapy calls for the medications to be put into the skin in small amounts, while in Lipodissolve, the medications are put deeper into the fat pockets in a larger dosage. The main difference between the two procedures is with Lipodissolve results are more certain with each treatment and fewer treatments are needed than with Mesotherapy.
Who cannot have Lipodissolve?
The procedure is not for patients who are pregnant, breast-feeding, have cancer or have had chemo or radiation within 6 months for cancer, have AIDS, are allergic to eggs or soy, are diabetic on insulin, have poorly controlled hypertension, or who are on blood-thinners.
What type of results is expected?
There are different averages of the amount of fat lost per inch. The variability is due to individual responses to the medications, as well as the type of fat that is being treated, and what area is being treated. Lipodissolve works well with soft fat because it is easily bursted. Fibrous fat is more difficult to treat with Lipodissolve because more of the fat cells will weaken instead of completely bursting. This may cause the need for additional treatments and/or the need to combine with aftercare procedures such as endermology. The additional treatments or other procedures are used to improve the results of each Lipodissolve treatment. The question is not if lipodissolve will work, it is how many treatments will it take to get the desired results.
Is it safe?
Lipodissolve has been safely performed since 2002 in Europe, and more than 18,000 procedures have been done all over the world. The primary ingredient is not a synthetic medication, but rather a natural homeopathic ingredient. It has been used intravenously in Europe for over 30 years to treat plagues in blood vessels. There is extensive research on the safety of the medication. In Lipodissolve, it is being used for a new purpose.
Does it hurt?
A machine blows cold air onto the skin in order to numb the area. Lipodissolve procedure is completed with infinitely small needles, and most people can tolerate the procedure without any difficulty.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects are bruising, swelling, and soreness, which peak at about 48 hours. The side effects resolve between 10-14 days. Lipodissolve is a known as a "no downtime" procedure.
How many treatments will it take?
The average patient requires about 1-3 sessions for treating fat with a goal of losing AT LEAST 1 inch of fat with each treatment; however, it depends on the individual patient, and the amount of fat that needs to be treated. Treatment sessions are done every 8 weeks in the same area, or every 2 weeks in various areas.
How much of an area can be done in a session?
While undergoing the Lipodissolve procedure, a dose of 100cc of the medications is the safest dosage a person can get at any one time. Injections are spaced about a 1/2 inch apart and a 1/2cc is introduced into the body. 200 injections are place if the entire dosage is used, and how much of an area that can be treated depends on the amount of fat which has to be treated.
How soon will I see results?
Individual results vary depending on body type, and the type of condition being treated. On average, patients may start noticing improvement about 4-7 weeks after that treatment. However, some patients may not see the end result until 12 weeks after the procedure.
Does Lipodissolve work for everyone?
Lipodissolve works for everyone although its efficiency depends on how well the medications used in Lipodissolve work on an individual. Lipodissolve is a great treatment for spot fat loss, but it is not intended to treat obesity, or help with drastic weight loss.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
Specific instructions are given to patients after the first consultation, but an exercise program and proper nutrition are vital to achieve maximum results.
How long do the results last?
Results from Lipodissolve are permanent in the area which is treated. Once fat cells are "dissolved", they no longer exist in that area. However, new fat cells generate in the treated area, and in other areas, if a client adopts unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as poor eating and lack of exercise.
How is Lipodissolve different from surgical procedures such as liposuction?
Lipodissolve is a non-surgical procedure. There is no risk from general anesthesia, or surgical complications. There is not a recovery time with Lipodissolve, so you can continue your daily activities immediately.
